One of American cinema’s purest gems of cringy black comedy, Todd Solondz’s sophomore effort Welcome to the Dollhouse introduced us to the tragically named middle school style icon Dawn Wiener (Heather Matarazzo) as she jumps all those terrible hurdles of puberty: first crushes, bullies, changing relationships with family members. Solondz later returned to the character of Dawn Wiener with his 2016 sort-of sequel Wiener-Dog, which recast Greta Gerwig in the Wiener role.
With an introduction by Natalia Kaniasty, Professor of Film & Television Production at Webster University and former student and assistant of Todd Solondz.
