CPL Thomas Counihan grew up in South Florida and joined the Army as a Combat Engineer at just 19 years old. During his deployment to Afghanistan, he bravely led missions to clear roads and villages of IEDs and other dangers. On May 8, 2011, he was severely injured when his vehicle was struck by a powerful IED, resulting in the loss of his right leg. Despite the challenges, Tommy has set his sights on competing in Paralympic surfing 🏄‍♂️🌊 and continuing to inspire others through adaptive sports.

His new home at Brystol at Wylder is designed to support his needs, featuring wider doors, hallways, an open kitchen, and a large soaking tub to aid his recovery and active lifestyle.
