We are thrilled to invite Alaskan author extraordinaire Tricia Brown back to the shop for a spring book signing! Bring your own copies for her to sign or grab one of her many works we will have on hand.
In her newest book, "The Queen of Fairbanks: Extraordinary Family Secrets and Untold Stories of America’s Farthest North Bag Lady,” author Tricia Brown combines her journalistic approach to uncovering truth with personal reflections about her own experiences with Irene Sherman. Brown tells us about Sherman's legacy, tragedies and uncovered mysteries.
She has written nearly thirty titles, among them a dozen children's picture books, most of them on Alaska subjects. Tricia first moved north to Alaska from the Chicago area in 1978. For the next twenty-one years, she wandered the state and wrote for newspapers in Fairbanks and Anchorage, before joining the staff of Alaska magazine. She entered book publishing in the late 1990s with a book titled "Iditarod Country: Exploring the Route of the Last Great Race." That year, too, her first children's book was released to national acclaim: "Children of the Midnight Sun."
Tricia's editing credits include dozens of print and/or enhanced e-books on dog mushing, Alaska Native cultures, Alaska history and travel, and the frontier lifestyle. In addition, national publishers have asked her to help develop their books on gardening, self-help, autobiography, and more.
She is a popular speaker in schools, libraries, and events in Alaska as well as the Lower 48. Her multi-media presentations, which include lessons on Alaska natural history and cultures, regularly receive high praise from educators and parents. She loves to get kids excited about reading, writing, and art.
