1. Meet new people
The Goofles Weekly Community Walk is a brilliant opportunity to meet fellow dog lovers who share your passion. By joining the walk, you’ll connect with like-minded people, build lasting friendships, and expand your social circle. It’s also a chance for your dog to make new friends, helping them to socialise and enjoy the company of other dogs. Friendly dogs are welcome, and we ask that all participants ensure their dogs are comfortable being around other dogs.
2. Safety in numbers
Walking in a group adds an extra layer of safety, especially during the winter months when it gets dark earlier. The well-lit, familiar surroundings of Brooklands Park make the walk both safe and enjoyable for everyone. Your dog will also benefit from the secure environment, allowing them to explore and play in safety.
3. Consistent routine
Joining the Thursday evening walks helps you establish a regular routine, keeping you active and engaged. This consistency also strengthens community bonds, encouraging you to come back week after week to enjoy the company of other dog lovers. For your dog, this regular outing provides much-needed exercise, mental stimulation, and a chance to interact with other dogs, all contributing to their overall happiness and health.
Disclaimer
While we encourage a friendly and welcoming environment, participants are responsible for their dogs' behaviour and safety at all times. Goofles cannot accept liability for any incidents involving dogs during the event.
To make sure everyone has a great time, it’s important to know if your dog is comfortable around other dogs. Dogs that have been well socialised from a young age tend to enjoy group settings like this.
Here are a few signs that your dog might be ready to join the pack:
- Calm behaviour around other dogs: Your dog remains relaxed, with a wagging tail and easy posture, and is happy to greet other dogs.
- Positive past experiences: Your dog has previously enjoyed being around other dogs, whether on walks, at the park, or during playdates, without showing signs of aggression or fear.
- Responsive to commands: Your dog listens well to basic commands like “sit,” “stay,” and “come,” even when there are other dogs around.
If your dog is still learning to socialise, it might be a good idea to start with smaller group walks or one-on-one playdates before joining larger gatherings like the Goofles Weekly Community Walk.
