Weekend in Bemidji, Minnesota

DESCRIPTION OF EVENT: Join our first big event as we gather for a weekend in Northern Minnesota’s famous home of Paul Bunyan—Bemidji. All self-contained vans and RVs are welcome and we can accommodate car campers and tenters, too. We’ll gather for dessert (s’mores if the weather cooperates) on Friday night and wake up to a provided breakfast Saturday morning followed by a full day of fun on the water. There will be kayaks, a speedboat, a pontoon, and paddleboards available, but feel free to bring your own so we don’t have to take turns. If weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll work together to create another plan (e.g., walking down the headwaters of the Mississippi in Lake Itaska State Park, riding bikes along the Paul Bunyan Trail). We’ll have a potluck on Saturday night (more planning on this later) and hang with games and other camaraderie building activities before heading to bed dreaming of the Northern Lights. After another group breakfast, it’ll be time Sunday mid-morning to head on to your next adventure with great memories and new friends.

Some notes:

We have room for about 8 rigs, but can welcome up to 20 people. Water and electric hookups will not be available. Plan to dry camp.

Friendly dogs are welcome. Note that the dogs in the neighborhood will mostly be off-leash and the property butts to a major roadway.

This is my summer cottage and I will be there with my husband. For liability reasons, he may participate in some activities (e.g., driving boats, bonfire). He will be around the property the entire weekend.

Our septic system is ancient so we request you use the plumbing in your own rig. For car campers and tenters, a toilet is available. We plan to have a hose near the lake for outdoor showers, but indoor showers will not be available.

An awesome attitude

Full supply of water for use in your rig (we can refill water bottles)

Snacks and drinks

Lunch for Saturday

Potluck item for Saturday night dinner (we have refrigeration available)

Gear for playing in the water (e.g., swimsuit, towel, floats, your own boats/kayaks/paddleboards/ squirt guns…)

Sunscreen ( I recommend an environmentally-friendly sunscreen with a barrier for water itch)
