Weekday Wonderings: A Walk around the Central Parks with Ally Hayes and Wendy Stokes

Weekday Wonderings is a weekday initiative from Southampton City Council Cultural Services, exploring the rich history and heritage of the town. Each session is different, but it could be a talk, tour or something entirely different! Look out for exciting activities on different weekdays!
Join local guides Ally Hayes and Wendy Stokes for an exploration of Southampton’s wonderful parks. The city parks of Southampton are unique in that they were originally the fields of the medieval walled town. Instead of being swallowed by urban spread, they were gifted to the people of Southampton in perpetuity. Ally and Wendy will lead you around some of the Grade II listed monuments and share stories of world-famous hymnwriters, entrepreneurial mayors, and even miraculous cures!
Regrettably this tour is unsuitable for people with mobility concerns. Please meet by the fountain outside the Central Library and Art Gallery (SO14 7LY; What3Words: expect.hiding.atomic). This will be a linear walk finishing in Palmerston Park.
