Join us for the launch of the Wednesfield Burial Ground Pilot Project!
Drop in – All welcome.
The event will feature a table-top exhibition showcasing the history of the burial ground and the land it occupies, and a selection of Stories from the Stones which give insight into the lives lived and the local heritage tied to the ground. Members of Friends of Wednesfield Burial Ground will be on hand throughout the day to answer your questions and share details about our ongoing project.
We’re delighted to be joined by other local heritage groups, including:
– Wednesfield History Society
– Midland Ancestors
– Friends of Wolverhampton Archives
There will also be a historical model of Wednesfield village, offering a glimpse of how the area has evolved over time.
The pilot project was made possible through HM Government’s and West Midlands Combined Authority’s Commonwealth Games Legacy Enhancement Fund, and Hands on Wednesfield. This support is helping raise awareness of the burial ground’s significance in Wednesfield’s history for generations to come.
Whether you have your own stories to share, are a local history enthusiast, a budding genealogist or simply curious about the burial ground, there should be something for anyone with an interest in Wednesfield’s past.
