Founded in 2010 in Portland, Oregon, by Kate Norris and Thomas Monroe, Division Winemaking Company is an urban winery focused on producing terroir-driven, minimal-intervention wines, heavily inspired by the Loire, Beaujolais, Burgundy, and Northern Rhône regions. The winery specializes in Pinot Noir, Gamay, and other varieties sourced from organic and biodynamic vineyards in Oregon and Washington. 

Founding and Philosophy

• Background: After learning to make wine in France, Norris and Monroe returned to Oregon to start their own project in 2010.
• Approach: They focus on sustainable farming, low-intervention techniques (such as carbonic maceration), and producing lower-alcohol, food-friendly wines.
• Location: Originally, the winery was part of the Southeast Wine Collective, a collaborative space they founded in 2012, before moving to their own dedicated facility in SE Portland. 

Winery Labels and Production

• Production: The winery produces around 7,000 cases annually across 30 different wines.
• Labels:
• Division: The flagship label, focusing on specific vineyard sites.
• Division-Villages: A "quotidienne" (daily) label.
• Gamine: A personal, smaller-production project.
• Nightshade: A joint project focusing on specific terroir. 

Division Wine Co has become recognized for its role in the "new wave" of Oregon winemaking, bringing an Old World, collaborative approach to the Pacific Northwest wine scene. Come along us for a fun night of learning more about what works best in OR & WA vineyards.
