Wednesday Night Blues at Charly's

The NAZBA Wednesday Night Blues at Charly's show has a stellar lineup this month with 5 Wednesdays of quality entertainment! Starting off the month are the fabulous sounds of Ray DeSylvester accompanied by Steve Willis both AZ Blues Hall of Famers! Whether it's the harmonica blending with the piano or accordion these two have a great sound combining traditional blues and New Orleans style music that will make you want to dance and move! Next up is Sammy Mac and Larry Cznarecki from the Mother Road Trio with George Ericson on drums! The band was inducted in the AZ Blues Hall of Fame in 2021 and the guys just played down at the Musical Instrument Museum last month and earlier in the year were on tour with the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Always a great show with these guys! The middle Wednesday features Big Daddy D Darryl Porras on guitar and vocals! He has developed his own unique style of traditional blues with a modern flavor and has been nominated for the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame numerous times by his peers and shared the stage with many great artists locally and nationally. Darryl played for the Cros band finishing second at the Memphis International Blues Challenge in 2022. Next up features singer and guitarist Jacqui Foreman along with guitarist Rich Bowen! Jacqui won the NAZBA Blues Challenge in 2018 and went on to compete in the Memphis IBC. She is also a featured performer for the NAZBA show "Ladies Sing the Blues". Rich has been a familiar face at Charly's for many years where he and his wife Shawna can often be heard as a duo. Rounding out the month of July from Sedona is vocalist Renee Rice accompanied by Les Paul on the keys. Renee is a powerhouse R&B singer whose credits include singing for former President Reagan! She was a Memphis International Blues semifinalist in 2018 and is also one of the ladies featured in the NAZBA show "Ladies Sing the Blues". Les Paul is an incredible keyboardist and has traveled the globe playing with such groups as: Sister Sledge Bonnie Pointer Luther Ingram and working as musical director for seven years with the one and only Mr. Billy Paul. Along with his mentor Skip Scarborough they co-wrote songs for Anita Baker and Edwin Hawkins. These two bring the heat!
