Instructor: Kathleen ForneySkill Level: Beginner
In this class, students will explore the fundamentals of weaving by creating a sampler that features seven basic stitches. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, students will learn how each stitch functions individually and how they can be combined to create visual rhythm and texture. Building on these skills, students will then design and weave a circular composition that incorporates all seven stitches.
The final project will be a circular woven piece measuring 10 inches in diameter with a 2-inch inner circle, emphasizing both technical accuracy and creative design. Students will work with a curated selection of yarns in varying shades of blue, green, beige, and black, allowing for personal expression through color choice while maintaining a cohesive palette. This class is well suited for beginners as well as those looking to strengthen their foundational weaving skills while producing a finished, thoughtfully designed textile piece.
