Thursday, October 16 is designated as "Wear Purple Day" or "Purple Thursday" in which all New Yorkers are asked to join the national effort to raise awareness for domestic violence by wearing purple.
We encourage you to wear purple, share your pictures with us (Instagram @capcayugaseneca, Twitter @CAPCayugaSeneca and Facebook @cayugaseneca), post to your own social media with our 24 hour confidential Domestic Violence Hotline, 315-255-6221 and the hashtags #PurpleThursday, #DVAM or join us on the steps of the Cayuga County Courthouse at noon as we stand together to honor victims, support survivors and hear brief remarks about the impact of domestic violence in our community.
Awareness is the first defense against domestic violence. Being part of Purple Thursday will help start the conversation and remind us that every day we all can play an important role in ending domestic violence. Your one small act can make a powerful difference in someone's life.
