About this Event
A weapon disarm is an imminent threat to any police officer, military operator, and even armed security. This training is for law enforcement, military and armed protective services wanting to improve their skills, tactics for weapon (pistol) retention.
This 1-Day course begins with a brief presentation to prime the concepts and concerns of a weapons disarm on an officer. Participants will learn to identify various threat cues and apply weapon retention concepts through close quarter combatives. Participants will also be introduced on the integration of an EDC knife as a support tool and weapon of opportunity as a last ditch effort.
This course is designed specifically for law enforcement, military and armed protective services and provides basic operator level training. We have instructed this TRICOM course annually at the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) and is a recognized course for training credits within the NTOA.
The seminar will focus on:
- In-holster retention
- In-hand retention
- Pistol defense in an extreme close quarter environment
- Close Quarter Combatives
- EDC knife knowledge
- EDC knife as a Weapon of Opportunity
All course participants will require the following for this INDOOR event:
- Operational uniform or training t-shirt and cargo pants
- Duty belt, holster, Blue gun or SIRT training pistol
- Training knife (or one will be provided for you)
- Soft body armour
- Clean indoor mats shoes
- All participants are responsible for their own meals, snacks and hydration
Facilities:
- Washrooms and free parking available on site
- There is no fridge or microwave

Brief Background
The primary instructor for this course is Chris Mandigma - a recognized authority in law enforcement training specializing in close quarter combatives. He has 15 years of experience in operational law enforcement, security and as an instructor. Chris is Canada's only TRICOM Master Instructor and instructs for multiple law enforcement agencies and has also instructed at NTOA, ISOA, and OTAB.
