About this Event
Saturday, December 21, 2024, City & County Building of Denver,
4:00 PM - 6:00PM
4:30 PM Program
Each December, the Denver community comes together on the shortest day of the year to honor those neighbors who passed away in the preceding year while experiencing homelessness. This year's We Will Remember: Homeless Persons’ Memorial Vigil will feature a short program including music, a eulogy, and the reading of the names of each individual experiencing homelessness who died in 2024 by local community members, followed by the crowd recitation of “We Will Remember” after each name.
For 35 years, the Coalition has hosted this event in honor of those who have died in the previous year. For many, this will be the only service to mark their death.
Please join us at 4:30 PM on Saturday, December 21st outside the Denver & City County building located at 1437 Bannock Street. In addition to the program, luminary memorials will be placed outside the building, each with the name of an unhoused neighbor who passed. Light refreshments will be provided.
Winter Wear Donations: Winter is a dangerous time for our unhoused neighbors and warm clothing can go a long way to keeping everyone safe. Please consider bringing a NEW, ADULT coat, as well as warm socks, gloves, or other new winter wear to donate.
Note that there is no need to check in onsite for this event. Please enter on either side of the City & County building front sidewalk, take a program, borrow a candle, and gather in front of the steps for the reading of the names.
