Make the Ware Center for the Arts part of your Lancaster City First Friday route! Join us in November as Heartland Marimba presents a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at the marimba, and a new art exhibit opens in the Regitz Gallery.
At 7 pm in the lobby, join the members of Heartland Marimba as they reveal all the insider goodies about their fascinating instrument. Listen, touch, and learn as you explore the science of its acoustics, trace its history from Africa to Central America to the classical music stage, and hear the untold stories of the marimba’s Pennsylvania roots—including tales of the “godfather” of classical marimba, Clair Musser, who hailed from Manheim, PA.
From 5-8 in the Regitz Gallery, explore a new gallery exhibit by Lancaster artist Shauna L. Yorty, "Overshare: I Did This for Me." Through cardboard collages, mixed media pieces, and bright, bold works of art, Yorty invites viewers to witness vulnerability, embrace their own stories, and find connection to themselves and to others through artistic expression.
Free and open to all!
