About this Event
We STILL Dream A Future—Reclaiming Humanity: Afrofuturism - Past, Present, Future is on display at King Street Station from March 5 through May 9, 2026. Hosted by the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, the free exhibition celebrates the 20th anniversary of The Unspoken Truths Traveling History Museum.Curated by Delbert Richardson, the exhibit uses artifacts, historical objects, and storytelling to illuminate histories often left out of dominant narratives. Beginning with “Mother Africa,” it highlights the intellectual, cultural, and technological achievements of African civilizations, affirming that Black history begins with sophisticated societies shaped by architecture, metallurgy, mathematics, spirituality, and art.The exhibit then examines the devastating impacts of U.S. chattel slavery and the era of Jim Crow laws, while uplifting stories of resistance, innovation, and cultural brilliance that helped shape the United States. It concludes with Afrofuturism, inviting visitors to imagine futures rooted in joy, compassion, creativity, belonging, and freedom—and to consider their role in building a more inclusive world.
