About this Event

Close out opening weekend at the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum with a day of creativity, storytelling, and reflection inspired by We Make History.
Families can enjoy Big Moments, Little Stories, an engaging story time and hands-on art activity that invites young learners to explore how everyday moments become part of the stories we share and remember. Visitors are also encouraged to stop by our portrait station to capture a keepsake with friends and family; honoring this moment as part of history in the making.
Get hands-on with Collage Your Story, Your History, a creative workshop with Pyramid Atlantic that invites participants to reflect on their lived experiences through art. Throughout the day, ACM’s Educators will lead guided tours of the exhibition, offering deeper insight into the roles of changemakers and history keepers in shaping our communities.
All are invited to take part in Stories That Shape Us, a creative writing workshop that explores the power of storytelling as a tool for reflection, healing, and preservation.
Celebrating the stories we carry and the history we continue to make together.

The opening celebrations for We Make History are sponsored by AARP and PEPCO An Exelon Company.
