Black Bear Trail at Great Dismal Swamp | Chesapeake, VA

This may be a new trail for many of you. This is a real dirt trail that goes into the interior of the Swamp. Boots and warm clothing are recommended. We will meet at the Black Bear Trailhead off of Martin Johnson Rd. This will be a 3 mile hike. We will take note of the flora and fauna, invasive species and keep an eye out for birds that are overwintering.
Come spread some collective love for the refuge on this hike!
Free "swamp kisses" will be provided.
Note: Please check back a few days before this hike. The location may change if there is water covering some of the trail. This is a natural occurrence caused by wind and/or rain.
The alternative site, if needed, will be to meet at the Ballahack Boat Ramp for a 2 mile hike to the Cornland School.
