We Hold These Truths Writing Sessions

Let's think introspectively and collaboratively about the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence, the culmination of the past 250 years as a nation, and our hopes for the next 250 years. “We Hold These Truths” writing sessions will be held on Sunday, June 14th, 2pm – 3:30, and Monday, June 22nd, 6pm – 7:30. Adults may come to either or both session. No registration required. The Library Director will lead free-writing sessions with prompts, followed by the option to share what we’ve written with the group.
You might even choose to include excerpts from your work in our Declaration of Independence collage. Collage materials will be available for use in the library June 13 – July 3, including copies of the Declaration in various fonts and sizes along with scissors, markers, highlighters, and other art supplies. Participants can hone in on words and phrases that hold meaning for them, elaborate on and give further context to those words by cutting them out, and turning them into artwork. These works will be compiled into a larger collage, as a growing and evolving display—much as our country grows and evolves.
