Deborah Jane Choate Shepherd is an Anishinaabe Storyteller and will share her story to raise awareness and appreciation of the Native experience in our region. The stories of indigenous peoples often go unheard but are essential in understanding the fullness of our past and our present, followed with Q&A and conversation to consider ways to acknowledge and include Native American culture and voice in our communities. Deborah is the granddaughter of a White Earth Ojibwe woman and an Oklahoma Cherokee man. She grew up in an assimilated family and as an adult takes joy in celebrating her Indigenous heritage.
