Immerse yourself in the rich history of this foreboding structure. Nestled behind a golf course, in the town of Louisville, Kentucky, Waverly Hills waits behind a residential treeline. This location is steeped in history and shrouded in mystery. The doors opened in 1910, and over the years, the establishment has gained a notorious reputation for being haunted, attracting paranormal enthusiasts from around the world.
Initially, the building functioned as a tuberculosis hospital, gaining acclaim for its innovative treatment methods and the inclusion of open-air pavilions. However, as advancements in tuberculosis treatment rendered the facility less essential, patient numbers dwindled, leading to its closure. In 1962, a new chapter began as the building reopened its doors as the Woodhaven Geriatric Center, specializing in the care of elderly dementia patients. Unfortunately, this phase was marred by allegations of severe patient abuse and inadequate treatment, resulting in the eventual closure of the center in 1982.
