The Waukegan Symphony Orchestra presents Celebrate America on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 4pm at the Orlin Trapp Auditorium, located at 2325 Brookside Avenue in Waukegan High School – Brookside Campus.The concert will perform the following songs:
•America The Beautiful – Samuel A. Ward
•Violin Concert in A minor – Antonín Dvořák
Featuring guest artist Wes Luke on violin
•Variations on a Shaker Melody - Aaron Copland
•Appalachian Spring Suite from The Tender Land - Aaron Copland
•"Hoe-Down" from RODEO - Aaron Copland
Guest soloist, Wes Luke on violin, is the Concertmaster of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra. He holds degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music, where he studied under Boston Symphony Concertmaster Malcolm Lowe, and UW-Madison, under former Miami Quartet first violinist Felicia Moye. He has appeared as a regular guest artist in summer music festivals including the Green Lake (WI), Caroga Lake (NY), Galena Festival of the Performing Arts (IL), and the Maverick Concerts (NY).
The Waukegan Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1974 and is lead by Music Director, Alexander Platt.
A ticket is required to attend the concert. The following ticket options are available:
- Students and Children (18 years and younger): Free
- General Admission: $20
