About this Event
WATJazz Presents the W. Allen Taylor Quintet
There’s nothing quite like live jazz when the vocalist, the band, and the room are all in sync. The W. Allen Taylor Quintet is bringing that experience to Takoma Station Tavern for an exhilarating evening of classic straight-ahead jazz. Taylor will celebrate the rich tradition of jazz vocals while bringing his own distinctive sound and personality to the stage. Expect sophisticated musicianship, infectious energy, and the kind of musical moments that can only happen live.
And yes, they WILL be swingin’!
Meet W. Allen Taylor
W. Allen Taylor is a jazz vocalist whose sound blends originality with the elegance, spontaneity, and storytelling of jazz’s golden age. A former winner of the San Francisco Bay Area’s Jazz Search West Competition, Taylor draws inspiration from an extraordinary lineage of vocal artists, including Jon Hendricks, Al Jarreau, Betty Carter, Nat King Cole, and Mark Murphy. Those influences come together in a performance style that honors the jazz tradition with a deep respect of its history.
