About this Event

Your story has a setting. But what makes it unique? How can you make your reader step into the story and see and feel it?

Join this member-led writers' lab to examine and explore your story setting. This workshop will help you:

  • Clarify what makes your particular story setting unique
  • Understand different lenses from which your characters experience the setting
  • Get feedback from others working to strengthen their story setting

This workshop is led by DC Writers' Salon member, Marc Shapiro. Marc spent time teaching English in a small town near Madrid, which forms the basis of his autobiographical novel in progress. He also hosts the Literary DC podcast, where he chats with local writers.

Based in Dupont, the DC Writers' Salon is a studio and community for writers. The Salon helps us make space and time for what we love to do: write. But more than that, it invites us to engage with the otherwise solo, and sometimes grueling, process of writing in a way that's more connected and accountable. Learn more at DCWritersSalon.com.
