About this Event

Overview

Curious about watercolour but not sure where to begin?

Watercolour Flow & Foundation for Absolute Beginners is a gentle, confidence-building workshop designed for complete beginners. You'll discover how water behaves on paper, learn essential brush techniques, and create simple paintings while developing the foundations that make watercolour enjoyable rather than frustrating.

No drawing skills or painting experience are needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore.

Perfect for anyone who has always wanted to try watercolour or is returning after a long break.

Description

Watercolour is often described as unpredictable—but once you understand how water, pigment, and timing work together, it becomes one of the most relaxing and expressive painting mediums.

In this two-hour workshop, we'll slow down and focus on the fundamentals that every watercolour artist needs. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, you'll learn how to control water, mix fresh colours, create smooth washes, and gain confidence with every brushstroke.

Together we'll explore:

🎨 Understanding paint, water and paper
💧 Creating smooth flat and graded washes
🌈 Mixing clean, vibrant colours without muddy results
🖌️ Essential brush control and mark-making exercises
🍃 Painting simple beginner-friendly subjects using your new skills
✨ Building confidence while embracing the natural flow of watercolour

This workshop is intentionally relaxed, encouraging experimentation over perfection. You'll leave with practical techniques you can continue practising at home and a solid foundation for future watercolour adventures.
