About this Event
Come join local artist David Souza for a 2-hour workshop on June 8th and learn how to paint your own watercolor octopus! Artist & Craftsman Supply in Tacoma is kindly hosting this event in their upstairs classroom. Parking and seats are limited!
Artists of all levels of welcome to join! If you have been meaning to try watercolors but were anxious to try, or if joining a group activites appeal to you then this class will be right down your alley.
Attendees will be asked to bring:
- Round brush size 6 or larger (synthetic fiber is usually more affordable)
- ** 9" x 12" watercolor paper (cold press, acid free, 300gsm)
- One or two black, Sharpie permanent markers
- A pencil and eraser
- A large cup or container for water
- *** Watercolor paints (paint sample cards will be available, but feel free to bring your own!)
Enjoy a relaxing, low-pressure afternoon exploring nature's most whimsical medium!
** Watercolor paper has to be stretched prior to painting to prevent curling! If students need help accomplishing this, they are welcome to arrive 1 hour prior to class to prepare. Some type of board will be necessary to tape the paper down to, preferably made of a wood product. Alternatively, edge-glued pads are available that don't need to be stretched! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have about preparing ahead of time.
*** Attendees are encouraged to bring whichever colors most appeal to them! Available sample cards include Daniel Smith colors: New Gamboge, Hansa Yellow Light, Pyrrol Scarlet, Quinacridone Rose, French Ultramarine, Phalo Blue, and Lunar Black.
