Waterbugs Summer Camp

Calling all girls curious about science, nature, and hands-on discovery. This FREE STEAM-focused summer camp uses fishing as a gateway to exploring ecology, biology, and environmental science in local waterways. Campers will spend most of the week learning fishing skills and spending time on the water, while also investigating the ecosystems that support healthy streams and fish populations.
Through field-based activities, campers will study aquatic insects, examine habitats, and connect real-world science concepts to what they see and experience outdoors. Midweek, the group will visit the Jackson Heights Art Studio to explore the creative side of STEAM, using art to reflect on nature, observation, and environmental learning.
This camp blends outdoor recreation with science-based exploration, encouraging curiosity, problem-solving, and confidence through time spent fishing, learning, and discovering together.
