About this Event
New Zealand's beaches and waterways are some of the most beautiful in the world, but they can also cause tragic incidents.
With Summer on the way, this water safety workshop, followed by Float First clinics, will raise your awareness and confidence in and around the water.
Brought to you by Drowning Prevention Auckland, this is a two-part event held on 18 and 20 November 2025. It's free, but spaces are limited.
This classroom-based workshop is designed to help you understand what to be aware of around New Zealand water spaces - whether going out on a boat, going for a swim at Mission Bay beach, or jumping into one of the South Island lakes. It will be delivered in a practical, interactive way so can get as much out of it as possible.
Sign-up
We encourage you to attend the workshop and one of the Float First clinics (you do not have to be a Hiwa member to take part) to get the most out of this initiative.
However, you are welcome to attend one or the other.
Whether you are a beginner or more experienced swimmer, these sessions are suitable for all levels.
