Choir Director and Composer John Mark Harrison presents a concert of original a cappella choral compositions, performed by a talented ensemble of Vermont singers.The concerts feature original choral works written and arranged by John Mark Harrison. These are songs that explore themes of community: births, people who have passed, love for our local environment, our water, our floods, our joys and our sorrows.
John Harrison is Emeritus Director of the Montpelier Community Gospel Choir, which he led for 26 years. He currently directs Rock City, Barreās rock and soul chorus. He has performed in a variety of groups as a singer and saxophonist, and his compositions reflect his eclectic musical influences.
The ensemble includes Christiana Athena-Blackwell, Lee Blackwell, Scottie Harrison, John Harrison, Lily Jacobson, Michael Kellogg, Kate Latz, Julia Ostrov, Marianne Perchlik, and Donia Prince.
Suggested donation for each concert is $20. The Montpelier concert will benefit the Vermont Immigration Legal Defense Fund, providing much-needed assistance to immigrants who are being denied their right to proper legal representation.
