About this Event
To bring a whole new dimension to your garden... just add water!
NEW! Here's your opportunity to see how to create landscape magic by the simple addition of water- with a small fountain, water garden, or an entire pond with fish. NHG welcomes guest speaker Lisa Herrick of the North Texas Water Garden Society, along with NHG's Rusty E. Allen to show you how to do it in this unique, combined class:
- 1:00-2:00 The Why in Garden Whymsy: Pond Building 101- Lisa details and inspires with the ponding basics, and how to find the right water feature for you.
- 2:30-3:30 Gardening with Water Plants- Rusty tours you through some of his favorite plants that are perfectly happy being wet all the time, and demos how to pot and take care of them.
- 3:30-4:00 Q & A- and extended time for questions to both presenters!
We hope this will help you see how rewarding ponds and water gardens are. You'll want to be with us for more at our annual Water Gardening Saturday Event on May 16th.
AND- don't forget to attend this year's , coming up June 13 & 14th.
Both events are a perfect way to learn more and get inspired to just add water!
Lisa Herrick fell in love with the idea of having a pond at age ten, when her favorite uncle repurposed a kitchen sink into a tiny goldfish pond in his garden. That simple act of creativity sparked a lifelong passion. She was “hooked”! Years later, frequent visits to the Fort Worth Japanese Gardens led her to discover the North Texas Water Garden Society, where she attended her first Pond Tour, joined a meeting, and soon became deeply involved.
Currently serving as Pond Tour Co-Chair, she has built several ponds—primarily for herself during relocations, but also for friends and family. What began with goldfish has evolved into a koi-only pond, featuring what she considers the true jewels of the water garden, along with a diverse collection of aquatic plants. She's always excited to share her journey—and inspire others to see water gardening as both an art and an adventure. She likes to say, 'If it holds water, I can probably turn it into a pond feature. I know you’ll be “hooked” too!"
Lisa is Programs & Pond Tour Co-chair of the , and a Certified Koi Keeper from Koi Organisation International, and Chief Designer, Engineer, and Laborer.
is a bunch of folks who have ponds, wish they had ponds, or just like the idea of water gardening. We want you to fall in love with adding water to your landscape or garden. Next Zoom Meeting – 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm.
