A stellar jazz sextet performs a musical tribute jazz composer and pianist Abdullah Ibrahim. Experience a celebration of this unique South African pianists unique style and musical voice with performances of his classic standards, plus interpretations and new arrangements his music. The band is fronted by Alex Bondonno (saxophone), Mark Bassey (trombone) and Jack Kendon (Trumpet) who will lead the audience through the musical story of Ibrahim's life from the streets of Cape Town as Dollar Brand to his role in the fight against apartheid, and journey to becoming a world renowned jazz musician.
After their celebrated, sold out shows at the past 2 Brighton Fringes, and performing at Love Supreme Festival, the collective a returning to share this fabulous music once again. We'll have a scattering of new arrangements and homages, but mainly we are looking forward to sharing this beautiful music one more time.
