Water and the Black Diaspora: A Collage/Shadowbox Workshop

Water has shaped Black history in profound ways, from the Middle Passage to the rivers, streams, and swamps that became pathways to freedom. From Hurricane Katrina to the Flint water crisis, water has been a source of survival, resistance, loss, healing, and hope.
Join us for a conversation guided by Jody Alexander, a local artist facilitator, about the many ways water continues to shape Black communities today. Then create a personal collage shadow box inspired by what you've learned, your own experiences, or your vision for the future.
All materials will be provided. You're also welcome to bring meaningful items to incorporate into your artwork, such as magazine clippings, photographs, postcards, beads, fabric, stickers, or other small keepsakes.
