About this Event

Does your History Curriculum need invigorating? Do you want access to History experts? Would you enjoy sharing ideas with like-minded individuals to increase impact?

Look no further!

Following a consultation process, in 2022, with current practitioners, and funded by West Midlands Museum Development, we successfully piloted the Warwickshire Heritage and Learning Primary History Teacher Network in 2023.

For 2024 the cohort has identified 3 more workshops.

Enhancing your History Units with Local History stories

Tuesday 5th March 2024, 1.30pm - 3.30pm

Warwickshire County Record Office, off Cape Road, Warwick, CV34 4JS

We will be demonstrating how we researched and used local history stories in our workshops, using Warwickshire County Record Office, and how you can find local history stories to enhance your existing curriculum. You will have the opportunity to carry out guided research online using the resrouces at the County Record Office. This workshop is held at the Warwickshire County Record Office so we can guide you in finding local history sources and where to access free resources.

Creating Unit of Enquiry for the history curriculum

Thursday 13th June 2024, 1.30pm - 3.30pm

St Johns House Museum, St Johns, Warwick, CV34 4NF

Create questions of enquiry for history units with an enquiry led focus that make use of your existing lessons and activities. Our examples will use local history stories using primary source materials.

Thursday 19th September 2024, 1.30pm - 3.30pm

St Johns House, St Johns, Warwick, CV34 4NF

This practical session will look at ways of gauging pupil progress in Primary History through assessing Substantive and Disciplinary knowledge together. The sample disciplinary concept will be Cause and Consequence and the range of assessment strategies considered will include modes of knowledge retrieval, pupil voice, floorbooks and the quality of feedback given to individual pupils to help them improve their work.
