About this Event
Vegetable crops are classified as either ‘warm-season’ or ‘cool-season’ according to their optimum planting time. Warm-season crops are generally planted after the last frost in spring and harvested by the first freeze in autumn, but vary in the specific horticultural practices needed for optimum production.
Join Matt Jones (Extension Horticulture Agent) and the NC State Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Chatham County for a workshop targeting home and community gardeners on how to grow warm-season vegetables. Participants will learn about planting techniques and timing, best varieties, common problems, and harvesting methods for warm-season crops like tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, okra, cucurbits, and more.
