About the pop-up
Warm / is a pilot pop-up sauna, dreaming and scheming into how we can have sauna access amist city life.
Inspired and supported by Community Sauna's CIC
Fee
As a pilot event, we are operating on a PAYF basis with a minimum donation of £10 overall to cover wood and staffing. Your £5 ticket fee will act a deposit for the slot and come off the fee you pay.
We would love to collect some feedback after your session over a cuppa, if you feel like it.
What's the set-up?
We have a 6 person wood-fired, off-grid sauna for your enjoyment.
It's accessible via a small ramp, of about 1 metre and you can sit on the bottom level or a raised level. The sauna does not have room for a wheelchair, yet there will be staff around to support your entrance and exit if you have minor mobility challenges.
There is a wooden changing hut about 5 metres away from the sauna, and a break-out space available with heating, seating, soft music and tea for in between your sauna dips.
On Friday the centre is open for allotment and project use.
On Saturday the centre will be open solely for use of the sauna.
This is a pilot event, and so we are working within the fab setting that is available. This means we for all we do have! We have limited shower access at this point, a cold shower via the tap, we do have toilet and running water access.
There is on-site parking.
What should I bring?
We will send you a little reminder email closer to the day, but you'll need to bring
-Something to wear in the sauna, swimwear or shorts and t-shirt
-A towel for sitting on (Suggested handtowel?)
-A separate towel for refreshing yourself and walking between the sauna and break-out geo-dome
-Some slip-on sandals or flip-flops for walking between the outhouses.
Why Sauna's, ay?
More and more research is coming out about the mental and physical health benefits of using saunas, that include better sleep, support for circulation, alleviate chronic pain, reduce joint stiffness, even strengthen your immune system. It has been found to have health benefits for those with cardiovascular-related and rheumatological disease.
In terms of mental health benefits, regular sauna users speak of relaxation, improved wellbeing, and using a sauna once a day for four weeks has been shown to reduce symptoms of depression, including better appetite and reduced anxiety. *
If you are pregnant or have a health condition, you are recommended to consult your doctor before you access heat treatment. You will be required to sign a safety disclaimer form before your sauna experience begins.
