—Introduction Warhammer Clifton Park is pleased to present our first Warhammer 40,000 Match Play tournament packet! While our events will be small, we highly value player improvement as a way to enhance our beloved Warhammer Community. We hope the experience here will enhance your knowledge of the rules, your wargaming acumen, and your most glorious sportsmanship.
—Rules in Use
We will be using the 25-26 Match Play Mission Deck, and the Warhammer 40,000 player app. If rules are in the app they are eligible for play. Players must have their 2000 point list uploaded to the Warhammer 40,000 player app and on hand for review before playing.
—Terrain
We will be using the TERRAIN LAYOUT 5 from the Warhammer 40,000 Tournament Companion, available to download from the Warhammer Community website.
All of our terrain will have the obscuring keyword. Any 6” by 4” terrain may be counted as area terrain for the purpose of placing models, meaning a footprint can be marked with dice, and models moved and placed in the equivalent space when operating on those specific terrain features.
Additionally, all other terrain will count as having their first floor blocking line of sight regardless of the actual metrics of the terrain.
—Clocks
Clocks are recommended by not required. If a player has a clock and wishes to use it, then it must be used.
—Painting Hobby Standards
The 10 points for Battle Ready Standard will be enforced. Armies must have a minimum of 3 colors, basing, a wash (or something equivalent), and no primer showing to qualify.
—Schedule
Round (1) MISSION Q 10:00 am - 12:30pm
Round (2) MISSION R 12:30pm - 3:00pm
Lunch 3:00pm -3:30pm
Round (3) MISSION T 3:30pm - 6:30pm
—By Rounds
If there is a by round it will go the player with the lowest score, or if it happens round one, it will be decided by roll off. If a store ringer plays the tournament player will be awarded a victory regardless of outcome, and will be awarded points scored in game.
—Pairing Metrics
Win-loss ratio will primarily determine placing, followed by strength of schedule, and then battle points.
—Dice use, Wound Counters
Players will be required to count down when marking wounds. Players will be expected to ensure that their opponent understands if symbols on dice are 6’s or 1’s and will be required to be consistent.
—Code of Conduct
Good sportsmanship will be expected and monitored. All issues will be resolved at the tournament organizer’s discretion.
