Stories about the animals that served alongside our servicemen and women during wartime reveal our furry feathery creeping friends' extraordinary abilities. Their unique roles whether saving lives providing assistance or comforting their humans have often been overlooked. This event is an opportunity to shed light on their crucial contributions enlightening us about their often unacknowledged roles.
On Sunday February 23 the Friends of ANZAC Cottage in honour of War Animal Day will be open from 4 pm to 6 pm to pay tribute to our animal buddies. We would love you to join us.
In 2025 we will pay tribute to the canine members of the animal family. These faithful friends offer valuable assistance during wartime and even in the aftermath of these horrific experiences. We will delve into the roles and responsibilities that dogs play in impacting health issues for ex-military personnel and members of the public providing a fascinating and educational experience for all.
To help us understand and acknowledge the effect of assistance dogs we will welcome a veteran who has used such an animal to guide him through everyday life. His story will be a revelation to all.
So wear purple and come join us as we say "thank you" to our doggie friends. We encourage you to bring your assistance dog as they are an integral part of our community and their presence will be greatly appreciated. And maybe bring a donation of doggy treats. These furbabies deserve our appreciation and admiration.
ANZAC Cottage is situated at 38 Kalgoorlie Street Mount Hawthorn. Entry to this event is by donation and refreshments are available.
