Wandsworth Black Heritage Voices
About this Event
About this event
Wandsworth Black Heritage Voices is a free community heritage project celebrating African and Caribbean stories, memories and cultural experiences in Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community.
The project will bring residents together through welcoming storytelling sessions, oral history recording and shared reflection. Participants will be invited to share memories about family, migration, identity, culture, faith, food, music, traditions and community life.
You can take part in a way that feels comfortable for you. You may wish to join a group storytelling circle, share a short recorded memory, contribute a written reflection or quote, or simply attend to listen, connect and support the community.
The project is especially for African and Caribbean adults, elders, families and community members, but the final sharing/display session will also welcome residents who want to listen, learn and celebrate Wandsworth’s rich community heritage.
No previous experience is needed. The sessions will be friendly, respectful and relaxed. Support will be available for anyone who feels unsure about sharing their story.
The project will end with a final community sharing and display session, where selected stories, quotes, and reflections will be presented and celebrated.
