Wees welkom bij het eerste 'Wanderlust' concert van 2025!
'Wanderlust' is een maandelijks terugkerend muziek event in PLEINKAMER dat is opgezet en samengesteld door Andrius Dereviancenko.
In deze derde editie luisteren we naar muziek van Orphax en Mary Oliver.
Inloop vanaf 16:00, het eerste concert begint om 16:30.

Orphax
Amsterdam based musician and trained drummer Sietse van Erve (Orphax) was introduced to electronic music in the early nineties. After playing around with tracker software for a couple of years, he eventually recorded his first more serious attempts of music with beats and melodies in 1998, though soon lost interest in both these.
He started researching new sounds and new ways of working – always with an organic touch, often incorporating sounds that would be regarded by others as errors or mistakes. Considering life isn’t without errors either. During this search, he found his way into drone and microtonal music. As a result in his most recent work, time and spatiality become more important factors. The goal of the music is for the listener to lose the sense of time and place.
Live this is combined with room for improvisation. This way of working results often in an organic form of drone and minimal music.
He has released over 50 releases, as Download, CD-R, Tapes, CD’s and Vinyl, on various labels, as well as self-released online since he started working on music. This includes collaborations with Kenneth Kirschner, Machinefabriek, TVO and Martijn Comes. Furthermore, he contributed to many remix projects including work for Kenneth Kirschner, Sontag Shogun, Martijn Comes, TVO and Chris Dooks among others.
In the past, he has shared the stage with various musicians including Martijn Comes, Jos Smolders, Frans de Waard (Modelbau), Zeno van den Broek, TVO, BJ Nilsen, Philip Jeck, Yann Novak, Sarah Davachi and Scanner. Live he has worked together with Ensemble MAZE (as Gareth Davis, Anne LaBerge, Dario Calderone), TVO, Fani Konstantinidou, and Martijn Comes among others.
As Orphax, Sietse performed at various festival such as, Rewire Festival (The Hague, NL), Festival Musica (Strasbourg, FR), Le Guess Who (Utrecht, NL), Incubate (Tilburg, NL), Family Film Project (Porto, PT), IFFR (Rotterdam, NL), STRP Festival (Eindhoven, NL). And various venues, such as Iklectik (London,
UK), The Cube Microplex (Bristol, UK), De Ruimte (Amsterdam, NL), Paradiso Basement (Amsterdam, NL), Splendor (Amsterdam, NL), KAW (Leverkussen, DE), OCCII (Amsterdam, NL), STEIM (Amsterdam, NL), Spektruk (Berlin, DE) among many others.
Besides making music, Sietse van Erve runs Moving Furniture Records and has curated concerts at home, at Amsterdam institute STEIM, De Ruimte, OCCII and more.

Mary Oliver
Mary Oliver, violin, viola, and hardanger fiddle, is a performer whose virtuosity spans the worlds of scored and improvised music. Oliver (b. La Jolla, California) completed her studies at the University of California, San Diego where she received her Ph.D for her research in the theory and practice of improvised
music. Her doctoral thesis, “Constellations in Play,” identified a new kind of creative discipline, which Oliver has pursued with colleagues locally and around the world.
Oliver came to improvised music through her work as a soloist and ensemble violinist and violist in contemporary composed music. She premiered works by leading composers such as John Cage, Chaya Czernowin, Brian Ferneyhough, George E. Lewis, Liza Lim and Iannis Xenakis. She has worked alongside improvising musicians and dancers such as Greetje Bijma, Mark Dresser, Katie
Duck, Oscar Jan Hoogeland, Anne LaBerge, Misha Mengelberg, Nora Mulder, Michael Schumacher, and Zea.
Based in Amsterdam, Oliver is a member of the Instant Composers Pool (ICP) Orkest, Picatrix, New Amsterdam String Trio and a regular collaborator with dancer/choreographer Michael Schumacher. She has taught numerous workshops
around the world and locally in NL. Currently she teaches at Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht in the department for Kunst, Media and Technologie and on the faculty of the Dutch Improv Academy.
Her current project as a soloist “Down the Rabbit Hole” explores the relationship between real and imagined musical landscapes on viola, violin and hardanger fiddle.
