Wanderlust 20 Years of Adventures with Film Maker Dirk Rohrbach
About this Event
Dirk Rohrbach looks back on his greatest adventures. From cycling around America to his expeditions on the Yukon and Missouri Rivers. The highlights of twenty years, the best stories and most spectacular pictures, captivatingly narrated and accompanied by a magnificent soundtrack.
Dirk's journey from doctor to adventurer began in 2004 with a sabbatical and the fulfillment of a dream. He cycled around the USA in six months and, after almost 15,000 kilometers in the vastness of the world, initially returned to Germany. There, however, Dirk quickly realized that nothing was the same as before; it was a turning point in his life. He decided to give up his jobs as a doctor and radio presenter, to go all in and travel across America.
Dirk moved to Canada and built a canoe out of birch bark and followed the Yukon River from its headwaters across Alaska to the Bering Sea. Fulfilled and inspired, he became a nomad, traveling between Europe and North America without a permanent residence. In 2013, he got back on his bicycle, crossing the USA from the Atlantic to the Pacific, before becoming the first European to paddle the Missouri River from its source to the Gulf of Mexico five years later – a journey of 6,000 kilometers.
It's the encounters that make Dirk's travels unforgettable, the stories he tells when he travels alone, slowing down, relying on his own strength, getting up close to nature and the people. Driven by unbridled curiosity, willpower, and boundless wanderlust.
