A couple of the hugely popular Red River Songwriters group and two of the most celebrated singer-songwriters from the great state of Texas are coming back to Society Hall for a special show, and they're bringing their highly acclaimed friend Marc Douglas Berardo along with them! Walt and Josh have played the hall several times as part of the Red River Songwriters Festival traveling show, and those performances have been some of the most popular shows ever at the hall.Society Hall board member Don Richmond says, “You'll have a hard time finding two people who are more highly refined practitioners of the subtle art of songwriting than Walt and Josh. Although their song styles are quite different, they both are able to take some of the deepest feelings we have about being humans, and present them in a way that is immediately accessible to the listener, and sinks deep into their heart and soul. And I'm thrilled that Marc is coming along too – we've heard so much about him and are thrilled to welcome him to the hall!
From Walt’s website - “Songwriter, singer, traveler, troubadour - the calling I answered, the life I chose, the way I make my way. I chose to go full-time on this road 30 years ago. It's been a spiritual quest, an amazing trip, at times heartbreaking & transcendent. In that time, I've made 12 solo records, 4 records with The Mighty Mystiqueros, 1 with my wife Tina, and a live record with my friend Kevin Welch. I've had 100 or more songs recorded by other artists, traveled a fair part of the world, and had some very, very large times.
I get to work with some inspiring artists on their records. I play all over Texas & as much as the US as we can get to, and even in Europe, where our second home is the Netherlands. I know a wide, beautiful variety of mighty poets, pickers, philosophers, artists, and wild spirits. I am the most fortunate man. Mostly, I drive, play & sleep & dream. It's a rich experience, a wild ride, and the way I make my way. I hope to meet you if I haven't. If I have, I hope to see you again soon on this path.”
Josh Grider has just released his new EP “Hard to Believe”, already being acclaimed as having some of the best country songs you have ever heard. “It's hard to convey how powerful Josh's new song 'Tough' is, remarks Don Richmond. He continues, “The whole collection is fabulous – I never thought Josh had a lot of room to improve, but he continues to strengthen and grow every time I hear him.”
From Marc's website - Marc Douglas Berardo is a thought-provoking songwriter as well as a fancy wooden guitar player who uses humor and deft storytelling to rally an audience and lead them into a deep and sometimes spiritual experience. After over 35 years of performing in every conceivable situation and winning awards and recognition for his songs in a boatload of national festivals like Rocky Mountain Folks, Telluride, Kerrville New Folk, Suwanee, and Wildflower, as well as being voted “best interview and live performance feature” on Sirius/ XM Satellite Radio show The Village, Berardo has established himself as the real deal. A “lifer” that No Depression Magazine called: “sincere, fluid, charming, and above all gripping.”
