Details:
Who: Grades 3rd through 5th
Where: (New location) Hudsonville High School "West Gym". Use Entrance G3 - Enter the parking lot off Allen (Behind Gemmen's). Its the set of doors you would also use to enter the competition pool or athletic department.
When: Jan 8, 15, 22, 29 and Feb 5, 12, and 26
Grades 3rd through 5th - 7pm - 8pm
What to bring: Helmet, stick, gloves, and dry tennis shoes.
Agenda:
- 5 min - Get them moving - Light cardio - jog/spring
- 15 min - Individual wall ball routine - We have a detailed wall ball routing that will be hammed on at each session
- 40 minutes - We will have 4 stations - Student athletes will break up into 4 groups and rotate through the stations every 5 minutes for the duration of practice. Stations will vary from session to session with a main focus on the athletes getting stick touches and revisiting fundamentals.
General rules for safety:
- Athletes must wear helmets at all times while in the room. We will be using real lacrosse balls and will be doing a lot of throwing/catching
- If its wet outside, please bring a change of shoes for use in the gym. I believe this court does not pose a risk to slip, yet keeping it clean and dry will be respectful
- Parents - For week 1, and potentially the following weeks, please stay out of the room. We are unsure of how many kids will attend and we need as much space as possible. In addition, lacrosse balls will be moving. I'm tempted to wear a helmet and cup myself. There is a hang out area on the southeast side of the field house where you can hang out. If you would like, feel free to leave and return when the session is over as well. Via the app, I have all parent cell numbers in case of emergency.
If your son does not have a stick or helmet, please reach out to Michael Kelly (616-594-8111). The program has sticks and helmets available to loan out.
