Walking Tour - Slough's Amazing Inventions

Slough has given so much to the modern world. The Malteser , Cox's Orange Pippin, the wheelie bin, the telescope used to discover Uranus, the Ford GT40, the Zebra crossing, Thunderbirds, the Ford Transit, The Office and Mrs Sinkins Pink.

On this journey from Slough to Burnham stations, you'll hear all about the amazing inventions of this Berkshire town. The walk starts at the Grade II listed Slough Station from where Queen Victoria took her first train journey. We'll then look at the award winning new bus station - inspired by the discovery of Infra Red frequencies by Slough resident William Herschell. After that we will take a walk along the A4 Bath Road - where in the 1920s, engineering companies built their factories. Today it is home to the grand scale modern headquarters buildings of many well known companies. On the way Rob will talk about the amazing things invented and built in Slough, and what goes on there today. The walk ends at Burnham Station and is about three miles in total.
