About this Event
Barbara Wright, qualified City of Westminster and Lamberth Guide, will take you on this walking tour. Hear about how master builder Thomas Cubitt created the Pimlico district. Get under the skin of this remarkable neighbourhood, where Londoners really live, away from the hustle and bustle, and yet only a stone's throw from the country's political centre. Apart from Cubitt's squares and terraces, you will be introduced to some architecturally iconic schemes of the 20th century together with issues in the public housing movement in the UK over time, right to the present day, and hear about some of the interesting people who have lived here. The walk is circular, passing at the end through the market, and starting and finishing at Cave.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the walk, as we leave on time.
There are no official toilet stops on the way. The walk is about 1.5 miles long at most, and it's possible to make it step free.
Please dress accordingly for the weather. The walk will continue unless some serious weather warning (amber alert etc.).
The walk is 2h long.
