Take a walk through a local neighborhood that is part of a National Historic District. On this tour, you will see buildings from the last 300 years. This includes the oldest community theater in the country and a beautiful mansion from the 1700s that served as America’s first military hospital.
You will also learn about:
A monument built to honor local soldiers who died in the Civil War.
Pauline Agassiz Shaw, the woman who started the first free kindergarten classes.
A house built in 1716 that used to be a tavern.
The Eliot School, which dates back to 1689.
The home of the first woman to ever graduate from MIT.
The First Church Burial Ground.
Tour Details
Cost: All tours are free.
Time: Tours last between 60 and 90 minutes.
