Until she saw the Martin Sheen/Emilio Estevez film The Way, Hikers member Katha Kissman had never heard of the Camino de Santiago. A year later, she watched the film again, and decided, “I have to do this.” The Camino de Santiago—just Camino for short—is a group of pilgrimage routes that lead to the cathedral of Santiago de Campostela, traditional home of the bones of St. James the Apostle. Pilgrims have been traveling the routes since the 10th century. Katha started her 500-mile walking journey on September 1 last year and completed it on October 6. Calling it the adventure of her lifetime, Katha will share her experience and photos at the New Buffalo Library.Presenter: Katha Kissman is a Harbor Country native. A retired consultant to nonprofit groups, she is cofounder, secretary and treasurer of the New Buffalo Railroad Museum.
