Join Archivist Becky Chapin for a walking tour of Geneva’s historically Black neighborhood on West and High Street. This area was home to a large Black population in the early to mid-19th century. Learn about the first Black men and women to purchase property in Geneva, the rise of the neighborhood, and the eventual decline of the Black population in the late 1800s. Participants should meet in the overflow parking lot across from West Street School, at 30 West Street.
The tour will run rain or shine, but will be cancelled in the event of thunderstorms or heavy downpours. The cost is $5 per person. Payment should be exact change or check and is payable at the start of the tour. For further information call Historic Geneva at 315-789-5151.
