Join us on Thursday, August 14 at 3:30pm for a Walking History Tour of the Winchester Townsite. Discover the fascinating past of Winchester, once called “the most picturesque mill site in the lake region.” This area is one of the most well-documented lumber boom towns in the Northwoods. We’ll explore the townsite together, viewing historic photos, maps, and images, and sharing stories of the people and places that shaped Winchester’s unique history. In the event of rain, the program will move indoors for a special presentation at the library.
The walking tour will cover about 0.5 miles on mostly flat, paved roads, with some possible gravel surfaces. Frequent stops are planned to keep the pace comfortable for all participants.
Location: Winchester Public Library, 7748 Lake St, Winchester, WI 54557
