About this Event

Walk With Me provides a controlled opportunity to practice real walking skills while helping both the dog and handler become more organized, confident, and responsive in the presence of distractions.

This workshop may be helpful for dogs who:

• Pull toward other dogs • Become distracted when another dog appears • Lose connection with the handler during walks • Become overly excited or frustrated • Walk well alone but struggle around disractions • Need more practice maintaining position and focus • Need structured exposure to learn that they can't always greet others.

Workshop Details

Length: 90 minutes Cost: $85 per person Class size: 4 Dogs Format: Small group instruction with individualized coaching Training focus: Loose leash walking, regulation, impulse control, handler connection, place, touch, and heel cues.

Participation Requirements To participate, your dog must:• Already know sit • Have no history of biting a person or another dog • Be current on vaccinations • Be able to remain safely managed on a leash . This workshop is not appropriate for dogs with a bite history or dogs who cannot be safely managed in a group training environment.

Individualized Coaching This workshop is limited to four participants so that each person receives individualized coaching. Instruction will be adapted to the current ability of each handler and dog. Participants may be working on different details based on their experience, leash handling skills, their dog’s level of regulation, and the dog’s ability to respond around distractions. The objective is to increase each team’s ability from where they currently are rather than expecting every dog to perform at the same level.

No Dog Greetings - Dogs will not greet one another during this workshop. This is an intentional part of the skill building process and is also respectful to the other participants. Dogs will learn that the presence of another dog does not automatically mean access, play, or social interaction. They will practice remaining engaged with their handler while allowing other dogs to move and work nearby. This is a structured training workshop, not a dog social or play group.

Please bring:• A secure, properly fitted collar or harness• A standard six foot leash• High value treats• A treat pouch• Water for your dog• Weather appropriate clothing and footwear. Retractable leashes are not permitted.
