PDMPA To Host Its 13th Annual “Walk to Health!”

Theme: “Stepping into Wellness”

Highlights include a two-mile walk health fair youth performances and the highly anticipated youth health awareness challenge! 

FLORENCE SC April 2025:  The Pee Dee Medical Professionals Association Inc. (PDMPA) presents its 13th Annual “Walk to Health!” - Saturday April 26 2025 from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (late registration and check-in begins at 7:30 a.m.). This FREE annual event will be held at Mt. Zion AME Church - 1305 East Cheves Street in Florence. PDMPA encourages the community to join them in “Stepping into Wellness”. 

Attendees will enjoy a community warmup with the “Move with Coach T” Fitness Team of Florence; a two-mile walk health fair youth performances from the Driven by Dance Studio line dancing instruction lead by Jessica and Lydia of the “Stepping Sisters” and many more fun activities! The walk begins at 8:15am and the health fair portion of the day begins at 8:45am. Attendees can engage with key health and wellness vendors. Screenings demonstrations and healthcare related information will be available throughout the morning.  

PDMPA’s Youth Health Awareness Challenge will take place during the health fair segment. Youth will compete for 1st 2nd and 3rd place by answering questions to demonstrate their healthcare and medical knowledge and understanding. This segment is open to organizations whose youth range from ages 11 – 19 (grades 7 through 12).

The event in general will focus on reducing the impact of diabetes obesity heart disease hypertension stroke and cancer in underserved communities. The South Carolina Cancer Alliance will be present to help encourage regular mammogram and prostate screenings in the community and the importance of early detection. Attendees will also find information on healthy living exercise and nutrition education.
