About this Event
Join us this Earth Day for Walk the Walk, a free hands-on bus training event hosted by Independence Travel Training, a program of Special Mobility Services.
Earth Day is a great reminder that small changes in how we get around can have a big impact. Public transit can help reduce environmental impact, save money, and build greater independence in everyday life.
Walk the Walk is designed to help community members feel more confident using the bus while exploring a greener, more sustainable way to travel.
During this training, participants will:
- Learn how to ride the bus with confidence
- Practice reading route information and schedules
- Learn how to track bus arrivals and plan trips
- Visit STA Plaza
- Receive support setting up and understanding their Connect Card
- Gain real-world experience using public transit
Participants will meet at The Arena, ride together to STA Plaza, and return to The Arena by the end of the training.
Whether you’re brand new to public transit or just need a confidence boost, this training is designed to be practical, supportive, and easy to follow.
Celebrate Earth Day by taking one small step toward a cleaner, more connected community.
Space is limited. Registration is encouraged.
If you attend and later feel you need additional support, one-on-one travel training is also available.
If you're unavailable for this event, please let us know what days work best for you and we will get back to you. If you have any questions, please call 509-818-1871.
